Ideas for Spring/Summer training 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 1
Now that the season is almost here and people are busy trying to fit in family, fun, work and training, it becomes more difficult to organise club socials to suit everyone. With this in mind I have listed a few things locally that may help with your training plan (or not ?)

Running

For those that want to improve their running don't forget that the NAC is due to start the RTC park runs (Mooragh Park) this Friday (13th). This is an ideal opportunity to test your progress as these events are held monthly. www.iomnac.co.uk for more details. There are also a list of other running events that may interest you depending on your goals ?

Cycling

Cycling events have already started and for those interested in competing the racing calendar can be found on most of the cycling club websites - check out www.manxroadclub.com. If you have not already signed up for the weekly Manx Telecom 10 mile TT events it is possible to do an odd one as a private time trial - you just need to turn up at the event early and wait to see if there are any spaces - this year is a bit different regards signing on so best to check with the organisers on arrival - normally Jim Cottier. There is obviously a charge for this I think it is around £5.00 ?

The scone runs continue through the Summer and as Kathryn pointed out they are a real friendly bunch. These are ideal if you want to get some miles in your legs and like eating scones ! Meet at the Isle of Man Bank in Kirk Michael 9.30am every Saturday.

Swimming

The masters swimming club runs right through the year, presently on Tuesday Evening at the NSC (8pm) Wednesday at Ramsey (7.30pm) and Saturday at Ramsey (1pm). As the warmer weather approaches it is also likely that some of us will be entering the sea to practice open water swimming so if you are interested or are looking for company to do this post it on the forum.

Obviously there is alot more going on Island wide, but these are just some ideas which are local for those in Ramsey. Our fellow members at www.manxtri.com also have some training ideas which may suit depending on your goals for the year ?
